NEW BLOG!!

Hello blog readers!

As some of you may know, I don't have much time to do a lot on the computer, so I have made a new blog which has only photos on it.

View it here...

It's a lot easier to just load on photos rather than spend time typing, so I should post a little more frequently on there.

Enjoy!

FIGHTING FIT

And, yes, I am. Yay!  Even if there is a virus in our house affecting some of my siblings and my dad.

A few days ago, my dad became unwell.  It sounded like a cold, but a little later, it became apparent that it was more than flu.  He stayed in bed for a few days and I think he feels better today.  But last night, one of my brothers (I don't know if I have told you, I have six brothers. And that's right, no sisters) had a fever.  He looked very unwell this morning, and is now sitting in the bath.  I just have to steer clear of the direction in which he coughs.

I could have got the virus by now because in the evenings dad and I would sit together, dad would look at things on TradeMe (yawn) and I would read a book, snuggled up to him.  But no, here I am, dad is nearly over it, and I am still well.  And I am very grateful, because I have to get my baby brother to sleep some nights - last night, the night before last, probably tonight...     If I was unwell, who would help my exhausted mum by getting her wide awake baby (who is trying to crawl off the edge of the bed) to sleep?

I have been taking only two medicines, and they have helped.   I am also careful with my sugar intake, my exercise, and how I dress (warmly if it is a cold day, thinly (but still modestly) if it is a hot day).

#1 Magic Potion.
Well, not really, but so it seems!
Comvita Olive Leaf Extract
Available in Health 2000 shops, and Health Post (An internet and over-the-telephone business)
I take one tablespoon two to three times a day.  It is the adult dose, but I now have two lots of sickness to avoid.

#2 Yucky Stuff
When you first taste it, you may think  "EEEW, YUCK!  Why did she recommend this?"
But believe me, it works wonders.
Aromaflex Manuka Hydrosol
Aromaflex is a business in Nelson and Wellington.  When you walk in, you are hit by this strong but beautiful smell like a garden.  The scent is perfectly natural, derived from plants and flowers, non synthetic,  BEAUTIFUL!!!
As for the word "hydrosol", don't panic, it is nothing complicated.   If the spray was essential oil, you wouldn't be able to use it in your mouth (am I right?).
You know Rose Water?  Great for hot feet in summer, smells nice, you name it.   Hydrosol is just a technical name for "water".   But you wouldn't really want to buy Manuka Water.  It sounds a bit strange.

Antiseptic, Antiviral, Antifungal.
Great for mouth and wound care.

So I put the two together.  Mouth care, Anti-abcdefg-etc.
I use two to three sprays in the mouth, whenever I remember (which is often three times a day).

I hope this has helped.  Please go to the effort of looking at the Aromaflex Website.
And have a great day.

MY ART AREA

Hello everybody (sounds unnatural, right?  Yeah, it is!)
Before I start with this post, I just want to say;
My friend has started up a website called New Zealand Fledglings.
It is for young children interested in birds and birdwatching.

Okay, now for the art bit!

Here is my art area,

And here is some of the equipment I use, and the picture I watercoloured last night.

Pens and Pencils
Reference Books

More Pens and Pencils
Sakura Watercolours
Reeves Watercolours in a Tube

Reeves Watercolours In Sticks
Warm-up Page
Painting

I didn't use a reference for this painting.  I just did it from my imagination.
I used:
Water ~ Reeves Watercolour in a Tube Ultramarine
Island ~ Reeves Watercolour in a Tube Sap Green
Sky    ~ Reeves Watercolour in a Tube Lemon Yellow, Brilliant Red, and Sakura Permanent Orange
Birds  ~ Sakura Pigma Micron 01
Tool  ~  Sakura Waterbrush (comes with paints)

The Sakura pens and paints are sold on eBay, and the Reeves paints can be found in most art stores.

Have Fun!

ALFRED'S BIG FLOWER SEARCH

I have been very busy recently but have found time to do an Alfred post.

Here we go!

One day Alfred was feeling a little bored.  What he wanted to do was go with Mary for a walk but she was usually busy on a Wednesday.

Soon he found himself walking over to the telephone dialing Mary's number.  He couldn't stop now.  Mary answered the phone, and when he asked if she was busy that afternoon, she said that she would be happy to meet him somewhere.  They agreed to meet in the forest a bit later.

Alfred heard Mary push the end button, he dropped the phone and ran outside.  Then he began searching for a flower for Mary.

He walked past a bush of pretty red flowers without even seeing them.

He looked over the large field, not noticing the pink flower beside him.

He saw a huge container full of water and ice.  He wanted to swim in it but knew he would get frozen. Brrrrrrrrrrrr!  He left quickly in search of some sun

which he found in the high branches of a tree.  He sat down and looked about and saw...

A pretty white flower!  But he soon saw that it was crumpled.  He was disappointed but never mind.

Then he saw a little purple flower, but, no, he wanted one that was a bit bigger.

He was quite sad when he saw that his favourite flower bush didn't have any flowers on it.

Then he heard a familiar voice calling out to him, breaking the cool morning stillness.
He turned to see Mary sitting in the sun in the forest.

He ran up to her and told her about searching for a flower.  She told him that it was okay...

...because she had him.

THE END

ALFRED'S PIANO COURSE

We have been given a stack of piano music from one of our friends and there was a music book in there called;
"Alfred's Basic Piano Library
Lesson Book
Level 2"
Alfred saw this and decided that he would like to have his picture taken with this book and pretend that he wrote it.  He called the newspaper reporters and they said that they would be there in and hour.

The next time I went into my room I found Alfred, sitting on my bed with what looked like it could have been a dressing room.   But poor Alfred was in a bit of a state, not knowing how to make himself look good.  He was sitting in front of the mirror, gazing at himself in horror.

He turned around and sighed.   Then he told me about the newspaper reporters.  I looked at the clock. Only five minutes left!  I quickly called Rosie to help me make him acceptable.  There was nothing I could do about the 'makeup' and Alfred wanted the chain around his neck.  So Rosie struggled and struggled but finally got the chain around his neck.

Then I heard a car coming down the driveway.  It was the newspaper reporters!  I gave a few orders to Rosie and she raced about, making things ready for the picture while I greeted the reporters.

While Alfred was having his picture taken Rosie sat on my piano, away from the cameras...

That night, the newspaper had Alfred and 'his' piano book.

GOTZ DOLLS

My Mum and I really like Gotz dolls.  They are made in Germany and are beautiful (I think)

Unfortunately, some time ago, the Gotz factory closed down and the dolls are getting harder to find.  One of Mum's dolls was the last one from that shop.

http://www.petalinadolls.co.uk/gotz/
This is a link to a website that has Gotz dolls.  Mum has three Hannah dolls and I have one too.

Here are some pictures of Gotz dolls.

Oops, not a Gotz doll, but hey, isn't he beautiful?
